Structural Calculations and Construction Drawings for Permit-Ready Projects

Building in the Netherlands is both a legal and technical responsibility. Weak substantiation can lead to permit delays, information requests, refusal, or site intervention. Aboss does not deliver isolated drawings. We deliver coordinated technical dossiers with structural calculations, construction drawings and clear submission logic.

Our work is prepared to be readable, checkable and defensible for contractors, municipal reviewers and project stakeholders. The objective is simple: reduce risk and make approval and execution smoother.

Urgent cases • Permit-required renovation • Steel / timber / concrete • DSO submission support

Structural calculations and construction drawings by Aboss

Technical deliverables for approval and execution

Our deliverables are structured to remain consistent across calculations, drawings and explanatory notes, so the dossier is easier to assess and easier to build from.

Structural calculations

Full calculation reports for steel, timber and concrete in accordance with Eurocodes and the relevant Dutch National Annexes.

  • Steel beams, columns, frames and portal structures
  • Timber roofs, floors, openings and local stability issues
  • Concrete foundations and slabs, including reinforcement logic where required

Construction drawings

Permit-ready plans, sections and elevations, with additional details where technical risk or review sensitivity requires it.

  • Existing and proposed layout clearly separated
  • Critical sections at structure, fire or envelope interfaces
  • Drawing level aligned with permit and execution needs

Shoring and demolition plans

Temporary works planning for load-bearing wall removal, phased demolition and controlled execution.

  • Shoring logic and load transfer sequence
  • Demolition phasing and risk control
  • Clear support for supervision and contractor coordination

Structural details

Focused details for lintels, foundations, bearings and complex nodes, so execution does not depend on improvisation on site.

  • Bearings, deformation limits and connection logic
  • Foundation repair and interface between old and new
  • Node details that support contractor clarity

Dossier consistency

Municipalities assess documents as one package, not as separate files. We therefore keep assumptions and logic aligned throughout the full dossier.

  • Loads, materials and stability concept aligned
  • Drawing, calculation and explanatory text connected
  • Reduced risk of follow-up requests and suspension

Why the municipality assesses your plans

Under the Omgevingswet framework, the initiator must demonstrate that the planned work is technically acceptable. Municipal review usually focuses on structural safety, function, and, where relevant, fire safety and building physics. A sketch may communicate intent, but it does not replace substantiation.

Aboss works with the same logic municipal building reviewers apply: structural behaviour, clarity of assumptions, buildability and internal consistency. That reduces the chance of delays, refusal or enforcement questions during the process.

From technical analysis to submission

  1. Quick scan and analysis – feasibility, scope and technical risk points are identified.
  2. Engineering and drawing – structural logic and construction drawings are developed in one coordinated workflow.
  3. Internal validation – pre-submission consistency checks against likely review questions.
  4. Submission support – dossier preparation and, where agreed, Omgevingsloket / DSO coordination.

Urban regulatory experience: Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Utrecht

Each municipality places slightly different emphasis on design review, supervision and practical execution. Local regulatory awareness helps reduce friction and uncertainty.

Amsterdam

  • Strict sensitivity to foundation loading and existing structures
  • Heritage constraints for roofs, façades and basements
  • Active enforcement where use or structure is unclear
Structural Engineer Amsterdam

Rotterdam

  • Structural focus for conversions and extensions
  • Stability and load-path logic for rooftop additions
  • Project-specific execution constraints
Structural Engineer Rotterdam

Utrecht

  • Review constraints around façade and visual impact
  • Historic context may influence technical strategy
  • Inner-city site logistics often matter early
Structural Engineer Utrecht

Typical complex projects

Removing a load-bearing wall

Steel calculations, detail drawings and shoring plans for safe internal openings and structural alterations.

Roof extension and foundation work

Complex load transfer onto existing buildings and often ageing foundations, requiring aligned calculation and detailing.

Frequently asked questions

Do I always need structural calculations for an extension?

For permit-required extensions, structural safety must be substantiated. Even in lighter cases, the technical risk remains yours if the structure performs poorly or causes damage.

What if the municipality has stopped my renovation?

Contact us as early as possible. In many cases a structured recovery dossier or technical substantiation package can help restore process continuity.

Do you provide calculations for steel and concrete?

Yes. We regularly work on steel structures, concrete foundations, local strengthening and associated drawing packages.

How long does it take?

Lead time depends on complexity and available input. Standard structural opening or dormer cases are often much faster than broader transformation or legalisation projects.

Can you also assist with the permit application?

Yes. We can support dossier preparation and, where agreed, act within the Omgevingsloket / DSO process.

Reduce risk. Build with technical certainty.

Do not let your project fail on weak substantiation or inconsistent documentation. Get fast clarity on feasibility, dossier quality and next steps.
